Clearly, a masterpiece. This is utterly breath-taking. Like when you lay eyes on the Grand Canyon for the first time. Your ability to b...

Do you have continuous pain on the sides of your legs while hiking or running that gets worse the longer you workout? Until, finally the pain is so bad you simply can’t stand up anymore. Think it’s shin splints? So did I, for 2 years.:hmm:

So I gave up hiking and every other form of strenuous exercise because nothing I did, stretching.. working out more often.. whatever.. didn’t help.. it just got worse. Numbness in your toes and when you sit down because your legs feel like they are gonna explode, the pain completely vanishes like magic, until you stand up again... are all sign of ECS (Exertional Compartment Syndrome). And it doesn't go away by itself. But it is fixable... :happycry:

Last November, I went to Washington D.C. and could not keep up with my boyfriend’s 70 year old step-dad due to the pain. That’s when I decided I was going to the doctor because this was getting ridiculous. :disbelief:

I went for the final ECS test yesterday where they “harpoon” (yes my doctor used that word) your legs with needles (long, wide 18 gauge needles :omg:) after working you out to see how high your pressures are in each compartment. When my doctor explained this test to me.. I said "Ok Doctor sounds good!" And he got up, smiled and said.. "No... it doesn't sound good at all." (At least he's honest huh.:aww:) It hurts a lot.. especially the anterior compartment (grip the treatment table with both hands) because it’s so close to your tibia (big bone in the lower leg.) My two compartments on each leg. (Anything >30 mmHg is positive. Anything >40 mmHg is considered surgery worthy. Under that they may try physical therapy first. (Mine were all around 50 mmHg.) He gave me the option of opting out of the posterior compartments since I never have any pain in the back of my leg. (Such a nice doctor!)

So, I definitely have exertional compartment syndrome in both the anterior and lateral compartments on both legs.
:X I’ve decided to go ahead with surgery. I’ve read online the success rate of surgery is pretty high and it’s not a complicated procedure. They just cut your fascia open to allow your muscle to expand while working out.
